- About the Competition
1.1 The Robert Parker Collection Photographic Competition is owned and run by The Robert Parker Collection.
1.2 The competition is a multi-category, free to enter competition.
1.3 The aim of the competition is to promote high quality and beautiful photography; to share the best of the regions in which the Robert Parker Collection hotels are based.
1.4 The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
- Categories
2.1 Inspiring Landscapes
Get out and about photographing the very best of the regions. All photographs must be taken within a 20-mile radius of the RP hotel in which you are staying. A short description of the image, including where and when it was captured must be included with each submission.
2.2 Historic Buildings and Monuments
Explore the areas around the hotels and capture some of the region’s most iconic buildings and monuments in all their glory. All photographs must be taken within a 20-mile radius of the RP hotel in which you are staying. A short description of the image, including where and when it was captured must be included with each submission.
2.3 Celebrating Local Wildlife
Beautiful photographs of insects, birds and creatures found within a 20-mile radius of the RP hotel in which you are staying. Images of animals in captivity or zoos will not be permitted. A short description of the image, including where and when it was captured must be included with each submission.
2.4 A Feast for the Eyes
Celebrate the originality and creativity of our award-winning chefs and capture the beauty of the fine dining at each of the hotels. Submissions can be a close-up of a plate of food, or food taken within the hotel.
- Dates
3.1 The competition opens for entries on Monday 1st January 2018.
3.2 The deadline for the entries is 5pm, Saturday 31st March 2018.
3.3 Winners will be announced by no later than Monday 30th April 2018.
3.4 Winners will be exhibited on the hotel websites and on social media
- Conditions of Entry
4.1 All entrants must have stayed within a hotel in the Robert Parker Collection (Dalhousie Castle, Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa, Eshott Hall, Ednam House Hotel or The Wordsworth Hotel & Spa) between January 1st 2018 and March 31st 2018.
4.2 All entries must be submitted through the Robert Parker Collection website
4.3 Entrants are permitted to enter 8 images to the competition via the website.
4.4 Entries must be submitted digitally. Scanned negatives are accepted but must meet the criteria of digital image file requirements.
4.5 Image entry file size must not exceed 8MB, and is recommended to be at least 1MB.
4.6 Images must be submitted by 5pm, Saturday 31st March 2018.
4.7 Images must not include watermarks, borders, or signatures.
4.8 Black and white images are eligible for all categories.
4.9 No single image may be entered into more than one category.
- Eligibility
5.1 The Robert Parker Collection Photographic Competition is open to all – except employees of the company.
5.2 The entrant must be the original artwork creator and solely hold the copyright.
5.3 Images must not be licensed or disposed of any rights that will conflict with the competition.
5.4 Images that have won or been commended or received notable publicity in any major competition before the submission deadline or judging will be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
5.5 Any submitted image must not be entered into any other competition after being entered into the Robert Parker Collection Photographic Competition until the results have been announced by 30th April 2018.
5.6 It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions are obtained from any person featured in a photograph.
- Ethics
6.1 Digital adjustments that maintain the integrity of the image are allowed.
6.2 An image will be rejected if in the opinion of the judges it appears that the image has been taken in such a way that wildlife law or animal welfare requirements may have been breached; protected species or habitats have been compromised; or the image has been otherwise taken in an irresponsible manner.
- Judging
7.1 A panel of judges will be appointed by the Robert Parker Collection to judge a shortlist of entries from each category
7.2 The competition judges will then choose from the selected shortlisted entries, to select winners of each category.
7.3 In addition, second places will be awarded; and where considered appropriate by judges ‘highly commended’ and ‘commended’.
7.4 Judges hold the right to move entries to another category.
7.5 The judges reserve the right not to make any award if, in their opinion, none of the entries meet the required standard.
7.6 The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Shortlist
8.1 Shortlisted entrants will be contacted by the Robert Parker Collection to send a high-resolution copy of the image in.
8.2 The high-resolution image will preferably be over 6MB.
8.3 This must be sent by the requested date – failure to do so may result in removal from the shortlist.
- Winners
9.1 The winners of each category will be chosen from the shortlisted entries.
9.2 The winners will be contacted via email and announced on social media, and on the Robert Parker Collection website.
- Prizes
10.1 Prizes will be awarded to winners of each category.
10.2 Second places will also win prizes in each category.
10.3 The prizes are non-transferable.
10.4 The Robert Parker Collection reserves the right to substitute the whole or part of any listed prize with an alternative of equal monetary value (but the entrant shall not have any right to demand this).
10.5 The prizes must be claimed within one year of the competition winners being announced or will be forfeited.
- Copyright and Usage
11.1 Entrants remain the copyright holder to any images submitted by themselves.
11.2 Awarded (including commended) entrants agree to grant the Robert Parker Collection and its partners to a nonexclusive irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish and exhibit for any purpose in any medium, including print and digital.
11.3 This includes, but is not restricted to use in press and on websites.
11.4 The entrant is responsible for any claim made by a third party against the submission.
- Disclaimer
12.1 The information given in these Terms & Conditions is correct, but the Robert Parker Collection reserves the right to change any of it without prior notice. By entering the competition, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
Any breach of these Terms by an entrant will void their entry.
- Data Protection
13.1 In entering the Robert Parker Collection Photographic Competition, you agree to the Robert Parker Collection using your details to contact you in relation to offers and promotions about the hotels in the collection.
13.2 We respect your privacy and will never sell your data to any third party.
